Traveling can create stress, especially at airports. The Dane County Regional Airport Pet Therapy Team provides stress relief and comfort to passengers through interaction with pets.
Therapy dogs and handlers with blue vests roam the terminal, visiting passengers awaiting flights and providing comfort.
Certification and Training
All volunteers and dogs are registered with Therapy Dogs, Inc., a national organization that registers, insures members. Each volunteer goes through classroom and in-terminal training to learn about Dane County Regional Airport. They also complete a walk-through with their dog to make sure there is a good fit for both volunteer and dog. In addition, handlers are fingerprinted and badged.
